AYINDE ANDERSON DP'S PHARRELL AND JAY-Z'S MUSIC VIDEO "ENTREPRENEUR"

Ayinde Anderson DP's Pharrell and Jay-Z's new music video "Entrepreneur" showcasing Black entrepreneurs from every corner of the world, in a variety of industries, from all different walks of life. The song was released in conjunction with Pharrell's special project for Time entitled, The New American Revolution. 

This was Ayinde’s first collaboration with Grammy-winning director Calmatic, and it was an uplifting one. Pharrell’s song “Entrepreneur” celebrates Black business owners all over the world, and he tapped Ayinde—who recently DPed Pharrell’s first feature-length film—to establish the video’s aesthetic. “It wasn’t about us making things look super cool and stylistic,” Ayinde explains. “It was, How can we make it feel grounded? We wanted people to watch it and say to themselves, ‘That’s a real person, a business I want to visit, someone who looks like me and who inspires me to create.’”Ayinde also shot many of the LA subjects, ranging from a vegan soul food chef to the founder of Vox Collegiate Junior High. “We adapted to them so they would feel confident,” he explains. “I worked off of the existing light, placing the camera in a way that the lighting looked good without adding too much. We were moving around with one light but barely used it.”
