RUDY WILLINGHAM CREATED A STOP MOTION VIDEO OF AALIYAH FOR EMPIRE RECORDS

It’s been 20 years since singer, dancer, and actress Aaliyah died in a plane crash in the Bahamas at the age of 22. Now, with her self-titled album hitting streaming services, Empire Records wanted an innovative way to engage audiences and celebrate the late artist. They tapped Rudy Willingham for the job. 

“Empire Records asked me to recreate her music video “More Than a Woman” with stop-motion cutouts,” he explains. “I wanted to create something that embodied the beautiful artist and person who she was, so everything was shot at sunrise to create a golden glow of sunshine beaming through her body.”
