MYLES LOFTIN'S "TRUE BEAUTIES" AT GALERIE KITSUNÉ IN BROOKLYN OPENS JUNE 9

"True Beauties" comprises select images from Myles' new ongoing series on ballroom legends the House of LaBeija. The exhibition, on view June 9–July 3, marks the U.S. debut of this important body of work, which celebrates the thriving contemporary ballroom scene while honoring its cultural influence. (Read more in Gigantic magazine's feature on Myles' portraits, "Long May You Reign.") Later this summer, a different selection of portraits from the series will debut at Maison Kitsuné's Paris gallery.

"It’s extremely important for me, as a Black queer artist, to create a visual archive of the members of my community as a means to solidify our place in history," says Myles. "I want others to admire the beauty and talent that I see when I look at my brothers and sisters."
