LUCAS GARRIDO HITS THE STREETS OF SÃO PAULO FOR STRAVA

Here, Lucas takes us behind the scenes of the sweltering shoot…

“When I was told that we were going to shoot in Sao Paulo, Brazil, I knew this was going to become one of my top 5 best jobs.

The project consisted of four scenarios: running, biking, trail running, and mountain biking. We shot it in two days, one day around the city for running and biking, and another day up in the north of Sao Paulo, in a beautiful natural park called Pedra Grande—which, as the name says, is a Big Rock. Indeed, it accommodates a whole tropical ecosystem. Anyway…

The days were hot, humid, and long, because we shot it in the middle of summer in Brazil. We ran around with wet towels on our heads and coated in sunscreen. Jane, our creative, came with very sharp ideas. She knew what she wanted yet gave me all the room to capture what I wanted. And that made the whole shoot very relaxed and open-minded.

Lastly, our Brazilian talent was magnificent. They were very charming and had an apparently bottomless energy tank—you could tell they’re used to that climate. After the job, I had a Vitamin D booster and had burned more than 10,000 calories.”
