JUAN VELOZ PARTNERS WITH MAX AND THE LAY OUT FOR A JUNETEENTH PORTRAIT STUDIO IN BROOKLYN

Max’s Scene in Black, an initiative celebrating Black stories, partnered with The Lay Out, a community and culture meet-up group in Brooklyn, NY, to celebrate Juneteenth.

“My good friend Emily Anadu, founder of The Lay Out, reached out to me with the idea for this project," explains Juan. "Cassandra Pito, who leads digital production at Vogue, designed the booth in collaboration with local florist Sufiya at X&O Blooms. I have so much love for Brooklyn, so I let the festival and people there inspire me. I wanted everyone to feel good and didn’t want to direct them too much. I just wanted to capture their essence, in the most heroic way possible, and feed them with love!”
