DP COREY ROOD'S SHORT FILM "HOUSE SHOW"

Corey says, "Director Price Robideaux and I both grew up in Portland, Oregon’s house show scene, going to DIY concerts at people’s homes. The scene has always been special, but now it feels even more alive. It’s not just about partying—it’s about activism, and even sobriety. Community holds everything together. We wanted to capture that feeling without making a documentary, but re-creating something so authentic isn’t easy.

House shows are chaotic, packed, sweaty, loud. To capture that raw vibe of being there, we spent hours watching old, low-res videos from the 2000s. We kept the lighting minimal and the set dressing low-key, but had a big crew so we could move smoothly through everything. The camera’s almost always in motion, gliding through scenes of different genres."

Corey continues, "The house we shot in was as real as it gets. The owners are legendary in the Portland house show scene, and the crowd was all local, supporting the bands that are part of the same community. You could feel the sweat and the mayhem but also the love that makes these shows what they are.

Price and I couldn’t have done it without an amazing crew and Industry Global, who helped fund the project and supported us through the whole process."
