BRAND LIBRARY: TOM VAN SCHELVEN FOR VERIZON

Since 2025, Tom has shot three image libraries for Verizon as part of a brand refresh: “Holiday Mishaps,” “Mobility,” and “Post-Holiday.”

“I worked closely with ad agency Turner Duckworth right from the start of the project,” says Tom. “It wasn't just about developing shot ideas—we were defining the whole look and feel together and making sure there was a really consistent visual language across all of the new photography. Not every project embraces that kind of collaboration from day one, and I think it made a huge difference to the end result.

This was part of Verizon's whole new look and feel, which kicked off in 2025 with the holiday shoot, ‘Holiday Mishaps.’ They were embracing something much more spontaneous and caught in the moment, which is obviously something I do a lot of. It was all about vibrancy and rawness, never feeling overly perfected or overly engineered.”

Fast Facts

• shot across three cities: Atlanta, Los Angeles, and New York

• 15-20 talent per day (professional models, street cast, and real families)

• brand refresh

• stills and motion

Mobility

Tom shot around 15 setups per day with about 15-20 talent on set. “I had a tight, trusted crew around me throughout,” he says. “Having that team made it much easier to keep everything consistent across the moving parts—lots of talent, lots of locations, and three different cities: Atlanta, Los Angeles, and New York. I created mood boards for the different shots to make sure we had a really strong range of ideas per scene, and worked closely with the client's in-house creative team and the agency to develop and expand the shot lists, all so we could get the absolute most out of every single day.

The real joy was the range of talent we worked with. Some were professional models, others were street cast, real families. That mix always keeps things fun and brings a genuine energy to set.”
