CAMERON STRAND x NIKE RADICAL AIRFLOW AT THE PREFONTAINE CLASSIC

Cameron traveled to Eugene, OR, to photograph pro athletes—including Hunter Woodhall, Tara Davis-Woodhall, Sha’Carri Richardson, Keely Hodgkinson, Cole Hocker, Masai Russell, Melissa Jefferson-Wooden, and Kenny Bednarek—being fitted in custom Radical AirFlow garments for Nike’s The Record Magazine and running the Prefontaine Classic, the United States’ premier track and field meet.

“There’s something pretty funny about getting dressed in high-tech cooling gear specifically to get hot and sweaty, but the technology is genuinely impressive—and it was a fun look at the small details happening behind the scenes before the athletes stepped onto the track,” Cameron says in the feature.

“I also wanted to take the opportunity to go beyond traditional behind-the-scenes coverage and create a series of portraits on a backdrop,” Cameron says. “The idea was to elevate the overall experience and give the athletes and the Radical AirFlow garments a more intentional visual treatment, while also creating a wider range of imagery to work with. It added another layer to the story and gave us more variation in how we could showcase the athletes, the product, and the experience.”
