Bio

Christian Cody is a director and photographer whose work explores and celebrates Black beauty. His vision is inclusive and humanistic with a sophisticated fashion edge, conjuring a world where the meaning of masculinity, gender, race, desirability, and self-worth is defined by the individual. In visualizing the specific, he opens new worlds and offers fresh possibilities for all of us. Christian was the visuals director of the fashion brand Theophilio and is part of See in Black, a collective of Black photographers who invest in, uplift, and build community around Black visibility. His clients include Facebook, Amazon, New Balance, H&M, TBS, Ugg, Nordstrom, Dr. Martens, Billboard, Vogue, The Hollywood Reporter, GQ, V magazine, i-D magazine, Allure, InStyle, Paper, and New York magazine. In 2023, his portraits of Lupita Nyong'o for The Hollywood Reporter were named a finalist in the Best News and Entertainment Photograph category of the National Magazine Awards. Christian grew up in Atlanta, holds a BFA in Photography from the Savannah College of Art & Design, and is based in Brooklyn.
