With this in mind, stylist Law Roach, who has worked with Zendaya, Tiffany Haddish, and Kerry Washington, among other stars, was inspired by Melun Diptych, a painting by Jean Fouquet from 1452.

Lucas then channeled all of the above to craft what Variety magazine describes as a “flawless, angelic look.”

“We put our focus on that: the aesthetics, how she sat and how we positioned the fabric,” Lucas told Variety.

The collaboration between Halsey and Lucas proved so fruitful, it blossomed into other projects. NME published one of Lucas' portraits on its cover, and HBO Max commissioned him to shoot the key art for a short film inspired by If I Can't Have Love, I Want Power.

Halsey also released a collector's edition of her album If I Can't Have Love, I Want Power which includes the album, hour long film, and an exclusive book. The book features imagery captured by Lucas, as well as paintings by Halsey.
