Jake Stangel directed a short video with Heath Ceramics‘ Clay Studio Director, Tung Chiang, in his San Francisco work space. The two met four years ago on back of an editorial assignment for AFAR Magazine, and bonded over a shared appreciation of their respective crafts. The video highlights Chiang’s design philosophies and his graceful work with clay. Jake says, “Spending time in Tung’s studio is calming meditative and soothing I wanted the video to reflect that.”
Jake Stangel recently completed a five-day cycling trip from Tromsø to Harstad, near the Lofoten Island in Norway. The journey was as cold as it is scenic and took Jake and his crew across “dark and craggy mountaintops to the homey, desolate foothills, the lands seeming to roll into infinity.” Subsisting on a limited diet of bread, Sørlands chips, Nøkkel cheese, and bananas, they “rode around, humbled, camping each night along the way.”
