JAKE STANGEL – GROW WITH GOOGLE

Jake Stangel teamed up with Grow with Google for a project that entailed traveling to schools, startups, local businesses, and employment centers in Pittsburgh, Oklahoma City, and Silicon Valley to document how students, educators, small companies, and job seekers all use Google products to better their personal and work lives.

Jake shares, “This shoot was a bit of a phenomenal rarity in commercial (ad) photography because we photographed ‘real people’ in ‘real places’ living their ‘real lives.’ We were just there to observe, to be flies on the wall, and capture the quirky delights of the human spirit as we all try to learn, grow, and be our best unique selves.”

JAKE STANGEL – TUNG CHIANG – HEATH CERAMICS

Jake Stangel directed a short video with Heath Ceramics‘ Clay Studio Director, Tung Chiang, in his San Francisco work space. The two met four years ago on back of an editorial assignment for AFAR Magazine, and bonded over a shared appreciation of their respective crafts. The video highlights Chiang’s design philosophies and his graceful work with clay.  Jake says, “Spending time in Tung’s studio is calming meditative and soothing I wanted the video to reflect that.”

JAKE STANGEL – BIKING THROUGH NORWAY

Jake Stangel recently completed a five-day cycling trip from Tromsø to Harstad, near the Lofoten Island in Norway. The journey was as cold as it is scenic and took Jake and his crew across “dark and craggy mountaintops to the homey, desolate foothills, the lands seeming to roll into infinity.” Subsisting on a limited diet of bread, Sørlands chips, Nøkkel cheese, and bananas, they “rode around, humbled, camping each night along the way.”Jake Stangel, Giant Artists Jake Stangel Giant ArtistsJake Stangel, Giant ArtistsJake Stangel, Giant Artists
